If you’ve made it here, chances are you’re interested in having your writing included in the pages of SLOW. That means so much to us!
SLOW is an independent print publication based in Australia. We’ve been sharing stories on slow living, surf culture, nature, sustainability, analogue living and more since 2019. While we’re based in Australia we have contributors from all over the world.
Over the years we’ve received many submissions abut ‘slow living’ but we want to bring more inspired stories on BIG topics that affect us all.
From the impact of AI data centres, to corruption within the food industry, the implications of digital ID and so much more.
What’s on your radar? What do people need to be talking about and finding solutions for? How can we bring our voices and actions together to create change and what will the world + local communities look like if we don’t?
We’re open to global stories that explore truth, social change, human rights, environmental activism, conservation, community, culture and stories that serve to spark curiosity and positive change.

After reading the guidelines below, if you are interested please send through a sample of your writing along with a story you’d like to pitch to hello@theslowjournal.com
Article length- around 1000 words.
Payment - $250 AUD per article.
Style - Authentic writing in your own voice. If you wish you can interview or quote professionals / references / those impacted in the field of your topic If you have supporting images YAY, if not thats ok too. We hope that articles discuss isssues as well as inspire
Timeframe - Pitches and a piece of sample writing through by 31 August.
Just a little heads up, we’ve had more than 100 of you dm your interest, but each issue we can only fit around 5 -6 stories. If you don’t make our Summer issue we would love to keep you in the loop for the following issue.
Final copy for accepted pieces due around 16 October. (some flexibility on this)
Please no stories that focus on promoting specific business, as we have a marketplace for all founder interviews, brand stories , business promo etc.
